Northern Lights has 24 hour access, a cafe and an onsite car park (annual parking permits are available for purchase from the landlord Baltic Creative).

Rent is £170.76 a month and the space is 230cm x 330 cm.

Death Postcards the latest feature exhibition on @hubstudios2 gallery wall. The collection of paintings are by Hub Artist @vincentlavell “Photography is a kind of primitive theatre, a kind of Tableau Vivant, a figuration of the motionless and made-up face beneath which we see the dead.”

The relationship between painting and photography is a key interest for me. In this group of paintings I am particularly interested in the way both processes act as a form of memory. Both media often seek to preserve the fleeting moment. In a sense both techniques attempt to stop time passing, that is, to stop death arriving.
For these paintings I have used ‘found’ images from pornographic
‘Art postcards’ (1900-35). The makers of these photographs often use art studio conventions to elevate their subject matter. However the stilted and posed photographs seem to be almost like forensic documents. I want the process of painting to re-imagine and re-vivify these people, to be a kind of voodoo. A futile attempt to breathe life into these black and white images. #art #artists #paint #figurativepainting #oilpaint

Seven Years since we set up in @northernlights time certainly does fly!!Hub Studios houses an independent collective of local artists and creatives, mostly refugees from the urban redevelopment that saw the final demise and deterioration of small transient studios in the city of Liverpool.

The group was originally set up in late 2008 within one of the converted warehouses on Parliament Street. This provided a home whilst the Baltic Triangle was being established as an area of emerging artistic activity. The group have witnessed the Baltic area of Liverpool rapidly transform into a thriving creative community.

The tranquility is disrupted when a series of tidal waves threatens to destroy the island. The inhabitants must quickly move to higher ground to avoid the devastation. But Mossberry, an influential squirrel with delusions of grandeur, sees the impending disaster as an opportunity to rise to power...and his reckless decisions will put many citizens in harm's way.

In a race against time, Urchin of the Riding Stars, his page, Corr, and the Circle of King Crispin's court must stop Mossberry and usher the animals of Mistmantle to safety. And when a beloved islander is swept away in the rage tide, the ultimate sacrifice must be made.
